About me

I’m Mayara, a Product Designer and UX Engineer based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I started out as an English teacher, became a front-end developer in 2019 and, from 2020 on, worked on design systems.

In 2023 I joined Appmax’s Product Design team as the person who wrote the code, and my role kept growing: Figma prototypes, flows, benchmarks and, eventually, the design and the code of the Appmax and Max websites and of the internal tools used by the marketing and product design teams, such as Calendário 360.

Before that, I worked on design systems at Warren, at Lojas Renner and, through Meiuca, for Itaú and BV. At Warren I helped found the accessibility guild and tested interfaces with screen readers (NVDA and VoiceOver). That work taught me to think at scale, because a decision about a button or a contrast ratio repeats across many screens.

In 2026 I took the UX do Zero ao Case course to practice user research, from surveys to interviews, and the project became the Sessão de Rua case study. I also studied with Meiuca’s Design System in Code course.

My degree in Language and Literature helps me write clearly and explain a decision to people who weren’t in the room.

I speak Portuguese (native) and fluent English.
